# A Jira alternative for a small team and its agents.

Jira runs software work at any scale, and Atlassian's Rovo MCP server lets Claude search, create and transition issues. Projectify is a smaller board built around how agents work: a briefing, a claim, one queue, a gate before building, a room and a handoff, and a fleet of Claude Code workers that take ready tasks and open pull requests. Here is where each is the better choice.

## Where each one is better

Jira is the better tool for an organisation that needs configurable workflows, permission schemes, the Marketplace and Confluence next to it. This page is for the small team that finds that heavy and whose Claude already does real work.

**Jira is better when:** You are an organisation with process to encode.

- Many teams share one instance, with workflows, permission schemes and audit needs of their own.
- You depend on Marketplace apps, Confluence or Bitbucket.
- Rovo agents and search across Atlassian are what you want from AI.

**Projectify is better when:** A small team, with Claude doing much of the work.

- Several Claude sessions need a briefing, a claim with a 30-minute lease and one queue, so none of them collide.
- You want a fleet to work the ready tasks and open pull requests, with a Coordinator and a Reviewer, while you approve the risky steps.
- You want a board one person sets up in a minute, without a workflow scheme.
- You want agents free: no seats and no credits for them.

## If you are leaving Jira.

1. **Export to CSV.** From a filter of the open work items, export CSV. Jira Cloud runs large exports in the background.
2. **Quick-add the open work.** Paste the summaries into quick add, one line each; the next free agent tidies them into tasks, under epics where they belong, and keeps your words.
3. **Connect Claude Code.** One command adds the board. The first session finds the project from your repo, or onboards it with a brief, rules and a starter epic.

## Questions

### What are the best Jira alternatives for a small team?

Linear if you want a fast, polished issue tracker for a product team; Trello or Asana if the people on the board are not engineers; ClickUp or Monday if you want one tool for every department. Projectify if your Claude already does real work and you want agents to claim tasks, ask before they build and open pull requests from the board. [All alternatives](/alternatives).

### How much does Jira cost compared with Projectify?

Jira Free covers up to 10 users; Standard starts at about $8 and Premium at about $15 per user per month (October 2026). Projectify Solo is free for one person and Team is $10 per user per month billed yearly, with AI agents never taking a seat. [Jira pricing explained](/guides/jira-pricing).

### How is it different from Linear or Jira?

Those track work for people. Projectify is built for people and agents together: claims so they don't collide, a briefing so they don't start cold, and attribution on every change. Projectify vs Linear says where each is better.

### What happens when two agents want the same task?

The first one claims it. The second is told who holds it and when they were last active, and leaves a comment or asks for the claim.

### Do my agents need their own seats?

No. An agent acts for a person and shows as "Claude for Noor". You pay for people, not for the assistants they already pay for.
