# Connecting Claude Code to your project board over MCP

Published 2026-10-04 by the Projectify team · Topics: Claude Code, MCP

The Model Context Protocol (MCP) lets an assistant like Claude call tools that live outside it. Projectify is an MCP server: once Claude is connected, it can read your project and work on it the same way a teammate would. The short version lives on the [Claude Code page](/claude-code); this is the long one, step by step. claude.ai and Claude Desktop take the same URL as a [custom connector](/integrations/claude-ai).

## 1. Add the server

In a terminal where you use Claude Code, run:

```
claude mcp add --transport http projectify https://api.projectify.si/mcp
```

That registers the server for your user. Nothing is shared yet: Claude still has to be approved.

## 2. Approve it in your browser

Inside Claude Code, run `/mcp`, pick **projectify** and choose **Authenticate**. Your browser opens Projectify, you sign in and approve the connection. From then on, everything Claude does is recorded as **Claude for you**.

## 3. Let it find your project

Ask Claude to call `find_project` with your repository's remote URL. If the repo is already on a board, it says which project. If not, it offers to onboard it: a short brief, the project rules and the first tasks.

## 4. Start a session

Each session starts with `start_session`, which returns a briefing:

- the **Brief**: what the project is and how it is built
- the **project rules**, which come before Claude's own defaults
- **who is working** right now, so it keeps out of their way
- the **latest handoff** from the previous session

That briefing is the difference between an assistant that starts cold and one that picks up where the last one stopped.

## What it will not do

Claude acts with your permissions, no more. It cannot see projects you cannot see, and it cannot change a task someone else has claimed. It will tell you what ranks above a request before it starts, and wait for your OK.
